It took me a long time, but I finally got around to taking a picture of my tattoo! It says “Not all those who wander are lost” in JRR Tolkien’s elvish language.
Lord of the Rings has always been an integral part of my life and the idea of adventure and journeys have always fascinated me. The fact that it’s written in elvish is even more special to me because only myself and people who truly understand me get what it’s about and why it’s so special. More than anything, I aspire to travel the world and take advantage of everything it has to offer. The quote symbolizes being able to explore and wander into new experiences, but still know who I am with my family, beliefs and experiences to ground me. It is also reassuring to know that although I may feel lost at times with my decisions, everything happens for a reason.
